Teaching Career
Evelyn and Frank's daughter Beverley was a tiny, elf in child and Evelyn dressed her accordingly, I remember an adorable pale blue coat, hat and leggings outfit she made when Beverley was about three. Evelyn had taken a course in sewing to have everything perfect for the new baby as well as herself, and the little set was a masterpiece of fine tailoring, This was just one of several matching outfits, till it became Beverley's ambition to be big enough to have a hat that didn't match her coat! But Beverley really distinguished herself when for some reason the fatal mistake was made of not having her christened until she was about two and talking clearly. In the middle of the service she said in a very audible stage whisper, ''When are they going to sing 'What'll we do with the drunken sailor?'", Beverley attended Williamson Road Public School in Toronto, Sunnylea Public School in Etobicoke, and Etobicoke Collegiate and Toronto Normal School, She holds an impressive array of teaching certificates, beginning with First Class certificate made permanent in 1954, Elementary Art and Crafts 1950, Education 1951, three in Vocal Music leading to Supervisor's in 1954, Primary Methods in 1965 and three in Special Education leading to Specialist's in 1971. She began her teaching experience in North Grimsby in September 1949 to June 1951, teaching grades II,. III, and IV. She then moved to Sault Ste.
