Pneumonia

Marguerite, born in 1897, died at about six months, of pneumonia, I think. I remember Mother’s telling me that the neighbours thought burial in the garden would be appropriate, but she insisted on proper burial in the Palermo cemetery. She described to me the grief she felt as she watched from an upstairs window the sleigh driving away carrying the tiny white casket.
